Contact East 2010 in Antigonish, NS on September 23-26
February 12, 2010 | Antigonish, Nova Scotia will transform into a hotspot for live music, theatre and dance beginning Thursday, September 23 through to Sunday, September 26 when Contact East 2010 arrives in town. Several hundred regional, national and international presenters will be in Antigonish to watch public performances of the best in Canadian music, theatre and dance during the 4-day showcase and conference.
''Contact East showcases engaging, in-demand, tour-ready arts performers from across Canada.'' says Sue Urquhart, executive director of the Atlantic Presenters Association. ''This year 35 to 40 acts of extraordinary talent will take to the stages in Antigonish and perform for venue owners and operators, festival organizers, and buyers for consideration in the upcoming seasons. For many of the artists and presenters it is their first time in Antigonish and we are planning an exciting line-up, lots of networking opportunities and industry-related seminars and workshops. There is something for everyone at Contact East 2010.''
In addition to live performances, the conference will feature an exciting panel of arts and industry professionals for educational workshops, round table discussions and peer to peer learning opportunities. ''Every member brings some new information to the table, and it is fascinating to watch even the new and emerging presenters teach the more experienced presenters something during these events be it artistically, or practically.''
The successful Contact East Bid was prepared by Antigonish Performing Arts, the Antigonish Area Partnership and St. FX with strong support from the Town of Antigonish, the Antigonish Cultural Round Table, and the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce. here
