Session description

With today’s complexity of issues and challenges facing presenting organizations along with the ongoing need to engage our communities and grow audiences, an energized, committed and knowledgeable board is a vital asset. The ever increasing time demands on people also means that there is a growing pressure to work smarter, not harder, so the key challenge for many non-profit presenting organizations is to ensure that all aspects of board development and practice are clear and effective and board members have a thorough understanding of their role.

Drawing on the suggestions gathered by the Atlantic Presenters Association Professional Development Committee for advice and support on a range of board topics, the retreat will provide an opportunity for the Atlantic Presenters members and Board Chairs to work on board issues of specific interest to them.

The retreat will provide a mix of context and conceptual frameworks drawn from the latest research on board models and will utilize facilitation techniques from Open Space and Generative Conversations to ensure that you are working on the topics and/or issues important to you.
